When you married your wife, did you think there would be a 20 percent chance you would wind up sleeping in separate rooms? Over one in five couples do not sleep together because of snoring. Yes, the problem is that bad. Even worse, snoring can lead to, or be the result of, a host of medical problems. And when that snoring problem turns into sleep apnea, serious problems can occur. The Snoring Center’s Beverly Hills staff specializes in the treatment of all types of snoring.
If your spouse has sequestered you to a different bedroom because you snore loudly, it is time to seek help. If she reports that you have several incidents where you stop breathing entirely and wake in a violent attempt to start breathing again, you probably suffer from sleep apnea.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea occurs when breathing stops in the middle of sleep because the muscles in the back of the throat relax causing the airway to collapse. The airway can shut down completely, halting breathing and dramatically reducing the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain. These episodes can occur several times an hour throughout the night.
Today, Constant Positive Airway Pressure, or CPAP is the preferred treatment for sleep apnea. However, many CPAP patients simply can’t sleep and wear a mask all through the night. Even worse, many spouses and sleeping partners of CPAP wearers can’t sleep in the same bed with a CPAP wearer due to either the noise from the machine or the interference of the mask and hose. So, while CPAP may solve the problem of sleep apnea, it may not mean that you and your wife will be sleeping in the same room again.
At The Snoring Center’s Beverly Hills offices, our board certified physicians treat patients suffering from sleep apnea through a variety of minimally invasive, office-based procedures. The most common procedure associated with sleep apnea is the Pillar® Procedure. It is a minimally invasive procedure in which tiny implants are inserted into the soft palate to stiffen it. This provides support to the airway to prevent it from closing during sleep. The procedure is quick and painless. The entire process of diagnosis, consultation and procedure can be completed in less than an hour. Our patients can immediately return to their normal activities.
The Pillar® Procedure is just one of the medically advanced treatments we utilize at The Snoring Center. The other proven treatments we utilize include:
- Coblation Turbinate Reduction
- Palate Coblation
- Laser Tonsillectomy
- Home Sleep Study
- Oral Appliances
- Snoring Surgery
At The Snoring Center’s Beverly Hills office, we take a rational and compassionate approach to treating snoring problems. Snoring doesn’t just impact your health, it can destroy relationships. So, if you once again want to wake in the morning next to your loving wife after a delightful evening of sleep, contact The Snoring Center’s Beverly Hills offices.
